Lakhs of aspirants prepare for JEE, but only a few get selected. Even if you get admission into an IIT, this preparation is never a waste of time.

Many students start their preparation for the IIT JEE examination and feel under pressure and disappointed when they do not get good scores or do not get into top colleges or IITs. While we understand how you may feel that your effort was a waste of time, we tell you how your effort into preparation is not a waste of time but an investment. We encourage you to look at the larger picture.

  1. You learn to put in your best effort

IIT JEE preparation is not easy at all. It requires discipline and hard work to study regularly and attempt tough questions. When you face tough concepts and questions and still try to attempt them, you learn to put in your best effort and overcome the challenge. In the process of putting in the effort, you also become mentally strong.

  1. You understand your true potential and work on it

During preparation, you start working extra hours that otherwise would have gone wasted. This habit of working extra hours or putting in so much hard work is also a positive tool for your future goals. So, you should see these years as opportunities to identify your true potential and interests.

  1. You can always change your field if you feel your potential is not being unlocked

As we have discussed before, engineering is a field that allows various career exits. While you can change your path and opt to prepare for a different exam, you can always change your field.

  1. You will have to prepare for your board exams anyway

In your 11th and 12th standards, students who opt for science have to prepare for their board exams. Such students should also see JEE preparation as something that supports their board exam preparation. Doing well in JEE preparation also helps with board exam results because many topics overlap.

  1. You understand the competitive nature of not only the JEE or NEET but also life

By taking the IIT JEE exam or other engineering exams, you will realize that your best effort is needed to achieve any good outcome. The preparation period helps prepare you mentally for such competition across all different aspects of life. A quote is relevant here: When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

  1. You realize how science and maths help in many other aspects of life

Scientific principles and mathematics form a background for a lot of other complicated concepts ranging from how plants grow to how AI models work. Preparing for IIT JEE also helps you understand the basic principles of these subjects, which help you analyze situations better and get closer to technology that is transforming the world.

As you can see, there are many side benefits from IIT JEE preparation, and you should not get sad if you are not able to get your desired result or get into a top college. You will still be benefitting from the two or more years of discipline, mental preparation, and introduction to science and math concepts. All the best!
