What are some things that irritate students the most during JEE and NEET preparation?

छात्रों को क्या चीज़ सबसे ज़्यादा सताती है

Due to certain situations and reasons, a student preparing for JEE or NEET often feels irritated and under pressure. We discuss the common reasons for the same and how to handle them:

1. Syllabus too vast

When children enter the preparation phase after 10th-grade boards or attend coaching and school classes together during foundation courses, they find the syllabus vast. It makes them jittery, and they feel like it is impossible for them to cover the syllabus and thus feel intimidated.

How to overcome:

Instead of getting irritated, having a good daily study plan to cover the syllabus is suggested. This will ensure that major things are covered. You are not alone; although few students have an edge over others, it's a similar situation for all.

2. Syllabus too fast

Most students find it difficult to cope with the fast speed of the syllabus covered. They find it difficult to keep up with the fast speed in covering theory and attempting questions. At the end of the day, this inability to keep up with the speed makes them irritated.

How to overcome:

Again, we advise students to get help from teachers and mentors. Discuss the difficulties faced, plan studies well and try to cover as much as possible. Never feel intimidated, as all students are sailing in the same boat.

3. Anxiety about getting selected for IIT/ Government college

As getting selected for IITs or NEET government medical colleges is difficult, students are fearful, which makes them irritated during the preparation. If you always focus on the end result, it can affect preparation because of constant worrying.

How to overcome:

Instead of worrying about the end result from the beginning, focus on having good preparation, which will give you a good result. (कर्म किये जाओ फल की चिंता मत करो)

4. Constant comparison with toppers

Constantly being in front of toppers irritates a student. Facing them gives them lots of anxiety and further reduces performance.

How to overcome:

Instead of comparing yourself with students with higher scores, it is always better to see them with a positive mindset and learn from their approach. Always introspect yourself, analyze your mistakes and work on them. This approach would improve your own performance.

5. Pressure from family/ society to perform well

Parents or family often ask about test scores or preparations, which causes irritation among students, especially when asked repeatedly.

How to overcome:

As a student, you should openly discuss your views but not hold grudges towards them. Try to take their suggestions positively; if you disagree, convey your feelings politely. This will make you feel lighter.

Finally, we suggest that controlling all anxiety and irritability is helpful for students preparing for JEE/ NEET exams or any other competitive exams. Reach out to teachers, parents, mentors and counsellors for any help.
