Compounding of habits from toddlers to teens - Part I - A suggestion for parents

Updated: Oct 16, 2022

Recently, after understanding a lecture on basic finance, I understood the concept of compounding.📈

It means when one invests regularly or more frequently (monthly or quarterly), money increases many-fold compared to if we invest once in a year or so (yearly). 📈

I could easily correlate it with some childhood habits we followed and got excellent returns. Similarly, in parenting, the principle of compounding can give exponentially higher returns if you regularly invest in certain habits of your child. Sharing some of them -

1. Start reading good picture books as early as possible with your child. Do it every day for 15 minutes and see the results when they are in higher standards and have to study more. They can read for long hours.📕📕

2. Complete homework daily, even in nursery classes that hardly take half an hour. They will always complete on time later on. đŸ”–âœïž

3. Build a habit of completing or attempting exercises given at the back of each chapter after chapter completion, whether they are part of the homework or not. It will prove fruitful when they prepare for competitive exams as they will not be restricted to orders given by teachers and will explore more with the same concepts taught. 💭🧐

4. Let them learn five spellings each day/ week and see them writing remarkable essays later.

5. Provide and play Puzzles or blocks games or sudoku if possible and see improvements in their mental ability skills later. đŸ§©đŸ§©

6. Help with half-page or one page of Handwriting improvement every day and see the improvement in marks in later classes, especially in conventional board education. đŸȘ„✏

Start their day with love and help them sleep every day with positive words or quotes, so they don’t feel alone and share their failures with you when it comes to them! 💖

It is conventional parenting yet beneficial! If you start with your toddler, see the magic of compounding for your teenagerđŸ˜ŠđŸ˜ŠđŸ€—đŸ€—đŸŒžđŸŒž
