Planning your day while preparing for competitive exams

Updated: Jul 21, 2021

With repeated postponements of JEE and NEET examinations and many disruptions being caused, planning your studies on any day has become difficult. In this blog, Mentor & Mom helps you understand why this could be happening and how you can be planning to manage your time well...

Why could planning be seeming difficult now?

This could be happening because:

  • You feel all your portion is covered

  • There is a lot of time at hand

  • Your daily schedule is flexible

  • There is uncertainty around exams

So then...

How can one go about planning?

Step #1

TAKE OUT TIME, GO THROUGH COMPLETE TOPIC LIST OF ALL SUBJECTS AND IDENTIFY WEAK AND STRONG TOPICS

Step #2

PRIORITISE STRONGER TOPICS AND ELIMINATE WEAKER TOPICS WITH LOW WEIGHTAGE

Step #3

ASSESS NUMBER OF HOURS YOU CAN DEVOTE PER DAY AND HOURS PER TOPIC TO PLAN THE WEEKS AHEAD

Step #4

MAKE A WEEKLY SCHEDULE. TRY TO COVER TOPICS FROM 2 SUBJECTS IN A DAY. ALSO CLEAR DOUBTS AND DO TEST ANALYSIS

Step #5

DIVIDE YOUR DAY INTO HOURLY SLOTS FOR LECTURES, SELF STUDY, REVISION AND TESTS (IF ANY)

Step #6

PLAN FOR THE NEXT DAY BEFORE YOU SLEEP SO THAT YOU CAN OPTIMISE TIME IN THE MORNING!

AN HOUR OF PLANNING CAN SAVE YOU HOURS OF DOING
