Here we tell you about some more “No No things” which should be avoided during JEE/NEET and competitive exams preparation.
1. Studying theory more than practising questions
Often students focus on covering the theory of all chapters through classes, notes and other reference materials. This kind of approach can work for board exams but for competitive exams practising questions is very essential. After understanding the theory, applying it in solving problems and learning methods to solve, is very important. So it’s important to understand that covering theory more than practising questions is not that advisable and time should be divided to cover the both.
2. Skipping easier questions to attempt harder questions
This is done by many students thinking that they can easily do the easier questions and only moderate or harder questions should be practised. Practice of easier questions is important for gaining speed during examinations to save time. It helps in reducing silly mistakes which happen commonly with easier questions. So easier questions should not be left unattended during regular daily practices.
3. Not making daily or weekly plans thinking it will waste your time
It’s very important to plan your day in advance. It hardly takes 10-20 minutes to have a mental map of your day and write it down on a piece of paper. For best preparation, a month-wise planner can be prepared for two years from the start of preparation and it’s really helpful at the end when revision and recall is required. So random studies should be avoided.
4. Ignoring nutrition for studies
It’s observed that students don’t get sufficient time during class breaks and avoid eating in a hurry. Drinking water is also compromised. It is a strict no no to ignore food. Complete, nutritious and balanced meals should be taken. During classes - rolls or other convenient foods should be consumed including fruits etc.
5. Ignoring sleep for studying
It’s been seen that students tend to study late and miss on their 7-8 hours of sleep in order to cover backlog or complete homework.
Sometimes it’s ok to sleep less, otherwise it’s a complete no-no as it creates mental fog the next day and you are unable to concentrate properly.
So in our series (part one and part two), we tried to cover things which a student should avoid as much as possible during JEE/NEET preparation. For any further assistance, take the help of teachers or contact us.
