Most students put their best effort into preparing for JEE and NEET. Despite putting in their best efforts, few students don't get the desired results. We tell you the common mistakes made unknowingly during preparation and how these can be avoided.
1. Referring higher level books directly
It has been noticed that many students and their parents assume that referring to higher-level books and reading them can give better results. It’s true that many reference books exist for each subject, but it’s equally important to understand basic materials like modules, NCERT books or state board books first. Once you learn the basics, the advanced level becomes easier. Otherwise, you can lose time understanding the difficult ones.
2. Solving higher-level questions directly
Most of the modules or books have various levels of difficulty questions. Mostly, maximum questions are in basic levels. Solving them helps in improving the speed of attempting questions during tests. Students feel they are very easy and try to skip and attempt difficult ones. Skipping some may be advisable, but skipping the majority of easy questions is not recommended. Another thing is that you may take longer to solve difficult questions if you don’t solve easier ones sufficiently.
3. Referring to many books for one subject or topic without completing basic material
Most students follow materials and books suggested by their teachers, but many refer to them on their own. They get influenced by other students or other coaching classes. If you refer to multiple books for one subject or don’t complete one source completely, it becomes tricky and may harm more than good. So don’t get influenced by other people; consult reliable sources before referring to them.
4. Reading more theory and attempting fewer questions
Many students prepare like board examinations and avoid solving questions or giving mock tests. Theory is important to understand the concepts, but solving questions based on that theory is more important. This gives further strengthening to the concepts and is very helpful during tests and actual examinations.
So we suggest you be careful about these avoidable mistakes and help improve your preparation for JEE/NEET. Always take the help of your teachers and mentors.
