How is the 50-50 mindset harmful to your preparation during JEE/ NEET? (Part 2)

In the Indian education system, most of the time, a student has to appear for a competitive exam of their choice after 12th standard board examinations. This is the age when a child enters adolescence and adulthood and faces many challenges. They start enjoying new-found freedom and exposure to various new things in the world. On the other hand, this is also the crucial stage of life where proper goal-setting and hard work are equally important. This blog tells you how certain challenges are faced while navigating the 50-50 mindset when preparing for JEE and NEET examinations.

1. Reducing the number of outings

It is common to see a child struggle to say no to their friends for weekend parties, birthday celebrations or various sports events when invited. They feel tempted to attend all social events and think they can manage their studies well later. You should focus hard on your studies and skill development and meticulously plan to participate in these events. If these events clash with important tests or topics, you should skip these events. You can attend hundreds of events once you make it through! (We have done so too)

2.  Becoming conscious about looks

A good study plan is demanding and needs proper attention and planning. Simultaneously, many hormonal changes happen during preparation for these exams, and students become conscious of their looks, height, weight, complexion, etc. It is suggested that looks can be worked upon later, but if career chances are lost this time, it is difficult to gain later. It would be best to try not to come under pressure because of your physical appearance and to work hard towards your goal.

3. Being attracted to easier choices

Many students have been seen to avoid difficult streams like science or mathematics, thinking it will be easier to pursue other streams. Everyone has the freedom to choose any subject or stream of their choice, but it needs to be understood that hard work is required to succeed in every aspect of life. If you want to become a successful sportsperson, mass media expert, or entrepreneur, you must work hard, maybe later in life.

4. Conflicting parent and friend advice

Many children find it difficult to be constantly directed by parents about studies, lifestyle, or choices of friends. Friends are very important in life, but sometimes they are less mature than your parents when advising you about your career, choices, or other matters. So it is important to understand the importance of family and friends equally, listen to both points of view objectively and take appropriate advice from them.
