How can you create a study-friendly environment at home for your child?

External environment matters a lot for a child while studying for JEE and NEET and even in general. A lot of parents do not think about how they can improve their child’s study area or environment in order to help with their studies.

This not only includes building a separate room or area but also reducing activities such as parties or distracting activities at home that may disturb the child.

Here are 5 simple ways in which you, as a parent, can create a study-friendly environment at home -

1. Create a space for studies at home

Parents can arrange a separate space at home for the studies of their children. This includes arranging a study table and chair in the room, keeping cupboards for keeping and easily locating notebooks and books, arranging good lighting so that eye strain is reduced and minimising noise or other activities in the room.

2. Create discipline in daily activities

Deciding a time for the morning routine of waking up, meals, sleeping and family time can help in creating discipline and reduce uncertainty for the child. This helps them study to their maximum potential without worrying about other things. For example, you can ensure food is ready or arranged at a particular time so that the child can eat it and plan their breaks accordingly.

3. Prioritise your children and their preparation

As parents, you may be invited to many functions and parties and gatherings, but prioritising your children’s exams and preparation is very important during JEE and NEET preparation.

4. Invest in books and stationery

Your child may need to buy many books or stationery items during their preparation for JEE and NEET examinations. Do not see such expenses as costs but see them as investments and plan for the same. Even if one page of a book proves to be useful, your investment would be successful and the child would feel happy. Having books and stationery may also spark more interest in the child to study. Make studying interesting for them!

5. Listen to your child

Generally, your child may be studying all day and may get bored or tired on some days. By maintaining healthy communication, you can get to know if your child is facing any problem with their teachers, study environment or if they feel exhausted. As a parent, you can then support your child by listening to them and providing solutions if they ask for it.

In such ways, you as parents can support your child in their JEE and NEET preparation. A study-friendly environment is very important in your child’s good performance and their good result will lead to your happiness in the end!
