Are you ready for JEE NEET preparation starting in 11th standard?

Writer: Monika MittalMonika Mittal

With the board exams nearly coming to an end, students planning to appear for the JEE and NEET exams must start preparing for the next two years. In order to make the most of the next two years, it is important to start strong and continue the efforts throughout the preparation journey. We suggest these tips to follow for the next few months:

1. Rejuvenate yourself

The 10th standard board examinations are tough, and students put in a lot of effort to do well in these exams. After putting in hard work for the preliminary and main board examinations, it is important to take a good break and rejuvenate yourself before starting preparation for the 11th and 12th standard preparation. These two years also require effort, and taking a short break helps build energy for these years of preparation.

2. Understand the two-year process

Students must use some of the time of the break between boards and 11th standard to understand the two-year process and get a rough idea of the types of exams and patterns for them. Different exams can have different strategies and decisions regarding streams also need to be made early on. Taking help from coaching class staff, discussing with parents, family members, and even school teachers can be helpful.

3. Start strong

It is very important for students to start their preparation strong. This can help with the formation of a strong base on important topics across the different subjects. The initial topics are often fundamental to help the students get used to the exam-type questions. Doing questions from the modules and even reading chapters from the book can help you build such habits early and carry the momentum into future topics.

4. Practice numericals as well

Many board exams require only theoretical knowledge, and the focus on numericals is lower. In competitive exams like JEE and NEET, the focus on practical and numerical-based questions is much higher, and it is very important for students to practice numericals along with reading theory from books. Students who understand the importance of solving many questions for all topics do well initially and even later.

5. Focus on the end goal

Regardless of the start date, students should focus on the end goal, not when they have started their preparation. The end date of the exam is the same for all; one can plan their schedule to complete the portion and revise accordingly.

Starting JEE or NEET preparation in 11th standard is crucial to achieving success in these competitive exams. By taking a short break to recharge, understanding the exam process, building a strong foundation, practicing numerical problems, and maintaining focus on the final goal, students can set themselves up for an effective and disciplined preparation journey. Consistency and perseverance will be key to mastering the syllabus and performing well in the exams over the next two years.
