Are Foundation Classes for JEE and NEET good?

Many times parents feel they are burdening their child and putting pressure by enrolling them too early in foundation courses for JEE/NEET

Are these foundation classes good and should they be considered?

The short answer to the question is - Yes!

However, we do need to understand these courses better.

“Foundation course” name is given to courses by coaching classes from 6th standard to 10th standard.

As it is the time for annual exams and with new classes starting, many parents ask us whether they should put their child in foundation courses by coaching classes along with regular school.

It is natural to get worried as we parents think that it will put additional pressure and burden on our child. We explain different aspects about it for you to understand it better and help you decide.

1.Most foundation classes are once-a-week classes

Foundation classes are mostly on weekends for 5-6 hours a week. It can be planned along with regular schools and with other hobbies as well.

2. Syllabus overlaps with school curriculum

In the foundation classes, the science syllabus is similar to school education and it is not very difficult to study it along with the regular curriculum.

3.Foundation classes give an idea about choices

These classes also help you as a parent to understand how much your child can cope up and whether he wants to pursue science or other streams later.

4. Help in building competitive mindset

Very slowly and conveniently, children learn to understand the competitive mindset required for All India exams at a later stage.

5.Concept of negative markings

Exams taken by these foundation classes give the students an idea of negative markings which is not the case with school syllabus and exams.

6. Decision-making for Olympiad and other exams

After a few foundation classes, we are in a better position to judge whether to enroll for the Olympiads or only continue with regular foundation classes.

But it is equally important to understand that if your child doesn’t join any foundation now, he can achieve the same result but he would not have the head-start!

So visit the institutes, understand the process and make your decisions. Who knows, your child may find their spark!
